I feel a little better after taking the mock final. At least I know what to expect. This weekend I’m going to review the areas I need to focus on. Hopefully by Tuesday I’ll be confident and ready for the second mock final.

I was reviewing for the final and I cannot believe all the stuff I forgot how to do. My anxiety level is high… I’m starting to freak-out.

By mistake I took the Practice Module 10 and not the actual test. On the positive side I get extra credit points, however, on the negative side I still need to take the test. I’m so ready for the weekend.

ACAM POST

I completely bombed Module 9. The way I studied for this test was completing my homework assignments. Obviously, that wasn’t good enough. I should have used my flash cards to remember the forms. Next time I take a test I’m going to put more effort into preparing for it. Now is not the time to be slacking. Soon I will be taking the final. On a positive note, I completed my test analysis and it sure did help me to know where I went wrong.

“The Great Pacific Garbage Patch”

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is an environmental disaster. Right now there is an area larger than the size of the continental United States in the Pacific Ocean between California and Japan that is filled with trash, mostly plastic, an estimated 7million tons of it. The problem with plastic is that it does not biodegrade. “Besides killing wildlife, plastic and other debris damage boat and submarine equipment, litter beaches, discourage swimming and harm commercial and local fisheries, and most importantly is a threat to human health as well.” This plastic vortex is affecting the beaches and oceans all over the world. It is our own fault and sadly no one knows about it.

Awareness—people need to start paying attention. There is not much we can do about the plastic that is in our ocean’s now, however, we can reduce our plastic waste to prevent this issue from getting worse. Start at home by cutting down on the amount of plastic you use. Simply start using glass or aluminum containers. “Every year over 60 billion tons of plastic are produced, much of it for one-time use, and less then 5 percent of the world’s plastics are recycled.” Do your part in making the world a better place for future generations—reduce, reuse and recycle.

Lesson Learned

I sure wish I attend the field trip Thursday. Now I need earn the points I would have earned by going.  I have to do some research on the Great Pacific Ocean Garbage Patch and blog about it and then I have to do word problems. Lesson learned…never pass up a field trip and opt for a math assignment.
